Hybrid Crossfire Question

I have a motherboard with an onboard Radeon 3000 gpu. If I want to take advantage of Hybrid Crossfire, can I only use a Radeon 3XXXX discrete GPU, or could I pair it with something more current, say a Radeon 4350.
