Building new machine. Considering Corsair hx650 and hx750 for the build. no plans to overclock. air cooled. had considered a seasonic of some variety...but current rebates make the corsair attractive. A look at the antec power supply configuration calculator puts me around 550w continuous for this plus extra bells and whistles.

coolermaster 690 advanced
intel 120 ssd
WD or similar 1.5 TB
lite on dvd burner or blu ray
3 or four scythe case fans, 1 or 2 cpu cooler scythe fans
6 or 12 gb ram
asus P6X58D-E mobo
i7-950 3.06 processor

either 6850's crossfired,
or possibly a 570.

If you are going to buy either the HX750 or HX650 go with the 750. You'll have more headroom for expansion later on.

In adding to the discussion, I have an HX650 right now and Im thinking of putting in another 5870. Would it be able to handle it? This is with an i7 860 OCed to 4ghz.

I think I'd upgrade to a 750w PSU is you're going to run two 5870's with your OC'd proc. A 650w might be okay with gaming, but if you really OC and OV the gpu's and run them fully loaded for an extended amount of time then the 650w will be pretty maxed out.
