Hey everyone, Merry xmas :)

Just recently upgraded to my new rig in my sig.. now since i've had the crossfire setup on the corsair 620.. system's been having some stability issues when crossfire enabled/disabled...

playing any games.. or just normal desktop use has been causing the system to hang randomly.. have done full reinstalls of OS's.. both vista(32bit and 64) and xp(32)..

tried testing out each vid card to see if maybe it was a card issue.. both cards run flawlessly when alone in the system..
as soon as i put both back in the system.. start gaming.. poof freezes..
tried putting in my 6000+ and still same thing..

i've checked online and my system is roughly around 570w usage.. so i'm guessing when it gets under load it maxes out my corsair psu :(

Now the reason for my post.. haven't been keeping fully up to date with PSU's.. just wondering if there's any new amazing PSU's out there..

I've been thinking about the PC P&C 750w quad.. but if there's any others out there.. i'd prefer modular.. but its not a big deal..

usually get my parts from www.ncix.com since i'm in canada.. any help would be awesome.

thanks again

That power supply shouldn't have any problems powering your setup. Online power supply calculators are extremely inaccurate, your system isn't pulling anywhere near that much power, under load or otherwise.

Have you checked the event viewer in Windows to see if it says anything about the errors?

I would take a guess that it is the second PCI-e x16 slot that is causing you issues. Try running your card in that slot only to see if you can reproduce the problem.

event viewer didn't show anything out of the ordinary..

from another forum, i'm starting to lean towards it being the mobo drivers not being matured enough yet and could be causing the issue possibly..

still investigating though

I'll try that out too.. only been trying the 1st slot on the mobo

First, the HX620 is certified for 3870 in Crossfire.

CLICK HERE to see ATI's certification.

Second, the fact that your system is hanging at the desktop (when you are consuming very little power) does not imply a power issue. It sounds to me like a memory or motherboard issue, honestly. The PSU is more than enough for that system. We can run 3870s in Crossfire on our HX520/VX550 PSUs, the HX620 runs it without breaking a sweat.

Hope this helps in some way. If you think the PSU is faulty we'd of course be willing to RMA it for you.

Thank you Redbeard for confirming that the hx620 is enough for the 3870's, takes a load off my mind for searching for a new PSU :)

I'm at work currently.. but when i get home i'll try the cards in the 2nd pci-e slot to see if there could be an issue with that.. run some memtest on my crucials.. try putting my mushkin's back in and try that out too...

With the lack of sleep i've been on due to the holidays and working and trying to sort out this PC issue.. just been getting frustrated and trying to find a quick solution... I just want this to work!!!

found out my issue after 4 hours of swapping out parts.. mobo itself is messed up.. sending in for an rma
