So Im trying to build a file server with some of my castaway parts. Anyways I wanted to also trick it out by taking a stab at cable modding (sleeving and custom lengths). Well the genius that I am cut the modular SATA power cables without marking which one lines up with which.. yea dont ask me why it didnt occur to me to mark it I have no good answers..

I cant seem to find through google a pin out for the modular cable. I could just slap it back together to see if it works but I dont want to risk damaging my new HDDs which happen to be the only thing I spent money on for this project.

So... can anyone out there with a HX520W help me out with a pic of their wires so I can ascertain which side goes with which? one that has a the sata connector in relation to the PSU connector. Or if the guys at [H]ard can tell me how to figure it out another way, (I can use a multimeter but I have never worked with PSUs so dont know which readings conincide with which pin.

Im almost at the point of using this as a sign that I need to buy a new PSU, this thing is going on 6 years so its time for replacement. Though I am still curious if there is a way to figure it out via multi-meter.. that would be a helpful trick in the future!

Here's how it looks on the cable from my 520. Forgive the ms paint, my phone is terrible with black for detail. Your sata plug should have the same markings as this:

I hope that makes sense, for the plug side to the PSU, the second and third wires are switched compared to the sata end.
