It was a rainy night, the dogs were barking. There was a chill in the air. Somewhere in the distance a baby was crying. All the while, my computer is giving me the freak out! LOL sorry about that...I've been going crazy over this...here's my problem.

The video on my computer resembles an old NES game gone bad. You all remember when you had to take it out and give it a good blow job. Well thats the best I can describe my computer...the video has really strange little boxes all over it and is nearly impossible to read. It also locks up very often. I thought it was the vid card so I went out and spent $200 and found out the hard way that it wasn't the vid card. I also tried using a different monitor to no avail. The only thing I can think of would be a problem with the motherboard perhaps? Please help me out...thanks in advance :)

Check the capacitors on your mainboard, see if any have ruptured. Generally they don't actually burst, but the flat top bulges out.

Aside from that, could be a bum AGP slot or PSU.

Okay, I'll try out these things when I get home. I don't have a PCI vid card with me since I'm at school but I can get one from home in a few days. Also I'll check out the caps to see if they still all look okay.
