huge problem, need help please

i am not very experienced with winzip, i never use it, so i was trying to zip a file and clicked checkout and a warning thing came up and said something about desktop shortcuts (heres where im thinking i shouldve said cancel) so i pressed ok and all the work on my desktop got deleted, not in the trash. i tried serching for them but all that comes up are shortcuts that say "this file has been moved or removed". cant find the work anywhere!

does anyone have any ideas? thanks.

ps. i know i am retarded for not reading the warning message when it popped up. im that kinda person that always just clicks ok.
