all 6 of my GPUS are currently doing those 511 point WU's bringing my PPD way down, not that i care since its all about the WU's just wondering if anyone else noticed this?

Oh yeah, I noticed. Poor FahSpy is having a hard time understanding the increase in time per frame. My ppd has dropped from 72,000 to 47,000.

Yay bigger proteins!

:)

Yup, all three of my Folding cards (GTX 280, 8800GT, and 4870) are chewing on the 511 pointers and are putting out roughly 3/4 of their normal points.

My 4870 got hit with one this morning, but thankfully I'm back to 548-pointers. Hopefully there won't be too many of these.

Thank god i thought it was just me that and i've also gotten a few eue's through the last 24 hrs or so though lowering shaders a few mhz did help but still :( lol

Yeah, I was folding 8 of them at once for a while. Looking through the logs, I've got 2 or 3 that EUEd. Everything is at stock. Back to a mix of 348 ptsand 353pts...

I saw about two or three 111 pointers yesterday on my 3870. :( Crunching on a 548 right now though. :)

been getting the 511 point WU's all day like everyone else
my 9800GTX+ has a 353 WU currently and the ppd for that is 6400, where as the 511 WU ppd is 4400

And I thought "droppin' your drawers and grabbin' your socks" was only applicable in military physicals (the droppin' part)

Seriously though, I have gone from about 5000+ (480 pts) ppd and about 4200 (384 pts) ppd to about 3400 ppd (511 pts) with a PNY 8800GT 512, but fortunately I'm back to the usual, run of the mill, 480 and 384 pernt WU's. (although the 384er's do give kind of a lame ppd, they hurt the hell outa' my GS and GSO cards )

Thanks everybody for DCing :p

Folding and WCGing for the CURE

My 4850 seems to like them :)

But I also have a 383 on my GTX260 that is now pushing 8500ppd....... is this an error or did the Vtec just kick in?

Not a error, I got the same increase with those 384 pointers :D

I guess the 511 pointers is too big for the GTX 260 so the ppd drop but the 353/384 pointers is big enough to fit in the shaders so the performance is boosted.

Looking through my logs, I see my HD3870 has had a few of these.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of them. I'm on the threshold of 2M so it'll take me an extra day to get there :)

Yuck. I had vista crash two days ago, I finally get things back in order, my my 260s are wasted on 511s all day :( O well, at least things are back to normal. My ppd average sure is taking a beating with my 9600gso offline though :(

I've had 511s on at least 2 of my cards all day, however, since I'm just getting back into it, I don't really care. The big WUs need to be compiled too ;)

Does anyone know why the PPD suffers so much with these WU's? Is it because they are larger proteins? More complex/longer calculations?

That's the gist of it. It's just NV cards that get hit. ATI cards don't even slow down, sometimes they speed up on these things.

I don't mind the 511 wu. As stated many times, they need done. :)

Actually, that isn't correct. My PPD gets cut almost in half with the 511-pointers. FahMon is estimating 2963PPD right now whereas it usually shows around 4800PPD with 548-pointers.

I stand corrected.

And bleh btw.

I can confirm that On my 8800GT, I go from ~5600 to ~3300 and on the 9600GSO I go from ~4600 to ~2700
