I have a project i was going to do for personal use consisting of
a galaxy note 3 (because of usb 3.0) and a small hub and portable battery pack.
The idea is that i can transfer stuff between flash drives much faster on the go *sharing with coworkers*
The question i have is will it make a difference using the usb 3.0 port on the phone?
someone mentioned to me that the hub transfers would be independent of the phone so even if i was using a usb 3.0 hub on a usb 2.0 port i would still get the tranfer speeds because im not using the memory/storage of the phone.
If thats the case ill just skip the phone and use my moto x pure.
Is the data transfers between ports on the hub independent of the host controller?
If it isnt then any recommendations on a cheap phone with a usb 3.0 port ?
so far all i can find is the galaxy note 3 and s5 seeing as most phones with a type C port are still usb 2.0

That's not true. USB hub chipsets don't handle data transfer from hub port to port directly, the data from a device plugged into the hub all is routed back to the host system's USB host controller and then back out to the other device connected to the hub.
