i have a biostar Tforce 6100 s939. In the advanced chipset section, i see sb and nb htt width options. North is at 16,16 and south is 8,8. Should i leave them like this or do they have to be changed? I plan to run my 165 at 290x9
 
i cant get my mobo to post at 290x9. I even set the HTT, sb, and nb htt to 3x. Also set the divider at 166 and 133. Both don't work. My cpu can do 290x9 but i cannot post. Even my memory can run at DDR500. What am i doing wrong? This is obviously a mobo issue.

Help will be greatly appreciated. Im even using these settings except that my cpu multi is 9x

I just found out that my mobo can only do 265 htt. I just upgraded to the latest bios. What am i doing wrong? Can someone help me get 290 htt? Or is my mobo a lemon? I thought the tforce is suppose to be a great overclocking mobo

There could be a cpu limit but thats a bad OC in a bad way. Use a program that can use half multipliers that can be saved and do a OC on that. Sometimes full multipliers are bugged in the cpu or mobo and have a strange wall. Getting past them can be easy as useing a multiplier inbetween. Or it could be as simple as a memory timmings or a hyper transport multiplier. Maybe not enough voltage. Setting the PCI-E lock to 101 helps. You may just be bios limited and may have to use clockgen to go beyond what the bios is capable of. Clockgen is the best no exceptions. Even better then the bios. Most atleast get 50htt more from just useing that. I could get far more then that from useing just that.

It took me months to find that sweet spot in my mobos for some reason I now understand a half multiplier was the cause all along that I could now OC my chip at a high htt. Now I can because I have a board thats capable of high voltage and half multipliers. But programs will do as well. It is not easy finding beyond the limits of these chips. Its not luck of hardware. Its down to skill and experionce to find those sweet spots. And get a moded bios to unlock some limits. May that help you on your path to become a Jedi! But to become a master, Clockgen is the only true path, and what you must use that it must.
 
its just that when i had the msi k8n diamond i could easily just set the htt to 300+ and it would post. But with this biostar tforce, im really dissapointed that it can only do 265. I have seen so many ppl with this board get 300+ htt in the bios.

I'll try the modded bios. Which one do you recommend? I have an opteron 165 that i have not tried yet. I wonder if the htt will be the same. My opty 148 is capable of 2.8ghz so the cpu itself can't be the cause of the low htt.

This guy tried different memory and cpu and the mobo still did not do above 250. I think i got a dud mobo.
