Hi , i was just learning about the HTT multipliers regarding AMD processors and how it adds up to overall bandwidth of 4gbs. Anyway i wanted to know that when overclocking am i basically trying to keep the HTT below a 1000 in total?

For example if my HTT was at 252 i would use X 4=1008

OR do i use HTT at 252 and the X 3.5=882 ?

I know about the how the ram works but its the HTT multiplier thats doing my nut in. Does it matter if i go over the 1000 limit or do i keep under.

usually it's ok to bring it up to 1100 to 1300mhz if you must.. every board varies, feel free to find the limit of yours.. just know that it's kinda tough to do stability testing on it.
i can promise you that there is no effect on performance from ht link speed, unless you drop it below like 400mhz and you're doing a lot of video card intensive stuff.

Usually i never bothered and left it and the max overclock i did get on my CPU 3200 was 2699mhz, which is not bad or is it?

it all depends on what the htt speed was :p

some boards automatically lower the ht link multi when it's left on auto, like the dfi nf4's
