HTPC Sound - Questions.

I recently got around to hooking my HTPC built on a foxconn NF4 to my old Onkyo 520, the issue is I'll be damned if I can get the S/PIDF (Coax) to work. I just never get any sound out of it. I cant seem to find any info on the ALC 850 and whether this will work with Vista media center. I did try a bit of cable madness and got the analog ports to work, but the sound is...Meh...

Anyone have experience working with the 850 and hooking it to a receiver? Or have any suggestions...

vista buggers up all the old direct sound audio. id look for some updated vista drivers for your sound chip. leave it to microsoft to screw up their own invention. theyhad something that worked really well and then they go and changed it so alotta cards work like crap in vista. nice one Billy.
