Hey guy's I have been thinking about building a new system to hook up to my tv to play bluray as well as backups stored on an internal drive for a small htpc/sff system. I live in an apartment and dont have much room for anything more so I was thinking smaller is better.
Here is some of the parts that I was thinking and was wondering what you all thought about it and to give me some other ideas if you have them. As far as price I havnt really set any max price for this yet but of course cheaper is a plus to convince the gf of my purchase.
The case will be custom built as I dont like most that are available and I have relatives in the sheet metal industry
Board: Was thinking mini-itx to help with the being small part. Something like this board I was thinking one of the zotac ion boards and saw that there were a few different model numbers. I know this one has a pcie slot so I thought that was nice for any future expansion, maybe tv tuner?
Ram: Havnt thought too much on a specific ram just figured 4GB 2x2gb sticks
Optical Drive: Some type of blu-ray drive like this? Drive
HDD: I was thinking maybe 2 2TB drives in raid 0 for storage
Also I will need a PSU for this build as well hopefully something small so my case that I build will remain small.
Keep in mind that I do have a main i7 920 box that I use for any kind of encoding and such as well. This will be more for just watching blurays and streaming netflix if possible for the gf as well as movies stored on the HDD's.
What do you all think of this? Will these zotac boards be plenty? Any suggestions appreciated.
