HTPC problem please help

I have a silver stone LC17 case and am running an I5 2500K and I hate the stock intel cooler. I'd like to do some overclocking as I use this system for gaming mostly. So I ordered a aftermarket cooler from new egg. The cooler was the zero therm ZT-570D and installed it a few days ago. I then started seeing my temps spike higher then they were with the stock intel cooler. I was getting 45 idle 67 under load using core temp/ Prime 95. So today I stopped by my local PC shop to ask them about the temps. They said that it might be becuase I didnt screw down the screws all the way. When I got home from work today I decided that I would remove the cooler and reapply the thermal paste(Artic silver 5). I took the PC apart and removed the mother board. Well, low and behold the stupid plastic bracket that holds the heatsink on was shattered in 3 of the 4 screw holes. I removed it and put the stock intell cooler back on, now my core temps are 36 34 34 39 at idle, have not tested it under load yet. So what heat sink can I buy that will fit in the LC17s case and not be larger then 135mm this is max cooler size according to the manual. Should I just give up on this case and go back to a full tower or maybe do water cooling with a H80 or an H100 from corsair? Any ideas would be good.

I wouldn't bail on the case just because you've had heatsink problems. I have an LC17 and use a Noctua NH-U9B. Very happy with the cooling and fit. Just one option to consider, there are a lot of coolers that will fit in there - it's a pretty big HTPC case.
 
+1 for the Scythe Ninja Mini. Works fantastic, but they've gotten pretty hard to find. They pop up in FS/FT from time to time.

As for the H80, H100 - Those would be GREAT.. if they fit. :) I picked up an H80 for the initial build of my LC17, but it would've required case modification to fit.
 
My old HTPC uses the Ninja Mini and I was disappointed to see them retire it. My latest one uses the Scythe Shuriken. Works great in my GD06 which has similar heatsink height limitations. Only thing is the HSF was harder to install since the heatsink extends over the retaining pins for my i5.
