We recently expanded to a 2nd building and are wanting to get our previous lobby, now breakroom, a video and audio signal from one of the HTPCs we have in the new building.

It's an older building and for many reasons we aren't able to run new cabling to the TV in the break room.

We DO, however, have a hardwired coax line between the two buildings and I have a drop into our new server room.

I am all over Google but can't seem to find an answer. Is there a way to get video AND audio from a pc via coax? Any adapters, etc are totally in play.

tl;dr
htpc output -> coax input on tv for video and audio possible?

Convert some sort of output from the htpc to Composite Video with Audio, then plug that into a modulator to send it down the coax.

Depending on the distance you might need something better than that, or an am at the start of the run.

smarthome.com has good modulators.

Nope, you're pretty much screwed.

Unless you have cat 5e or 6 running there too. you could extend HDMI out that way.

if youve got RG6 running you can use HDMI > Coax converters...will be expensive though....

i read a ton saying, specifically on avsforum, that this can't be done. any chance of a link?

just remember if you have RG59 cable which is mainly used for old SD cable tv, rf, etc, you may not get the range you expect. RG6 which is used for broadband, HD satellite, etc. should be fine.
