I don't see the point, because obsolete equipment they don't make any more will play DVD content just fine. I would say the cheapest will be parts you can bum off from friends' closets and dumpsters (all free).

OP i have a few ideas. I'm sure you could pick these up for next to nothing:

Slightly crispy, but cheap...

Here's one crappy PC, but throw in an 8500gt and it'll play blu-ray.

This one's my favorite, and it even comes with a screen.

Note the built-in eight-track player. Fo shizzle?

i hate these threads. the least you could do is attempt to make your own build and then ask an opinion. this is like asking someone for the answers to your homework......of course you will fail the test. get off your arse and try something. by the way...technically "streaming" dvds means you will be using another storage medium. so your lan means more than any hardware you may have. if all your gonna do is play dvds, get a friggin dvd player.this thread is a massive dump in that awesome throne case lol.
