Celeron 430 Conroe-L OC to 3.00
Foxcom M7PMX-S
G.Skill 2x1gb
Western Digital 500GB SATA2 5400-7200RPM
Pinnacle PCTV HD card
Airlink N adapter

I am using the on board HDMI, i have update the BIOS and the audio is not coming out, just from the computer. I haven't tested the Pinnacle card on this system yet. I have the Pinnacle installed on another system and works just great with in Media Center.
Should i get a PCIe Video card with HDMI or get more memory?

That Pinnacle TV Tuner has some Horrible Reviews, never used it myself, but buyer beware.

thats because the onboard hdmi does not have audio support.. only ones that do are the new intel hw accel chipsets, nvidia onboard 8 series igp boards and ati's 780g onboard chipset.. anything else and you will only get video.. no audio..

Dude. Your system sucks; terrible parts selection.

Anyways, your board's HDMI needs to have the audio piped into it with a SPDIF cable, onboard headers.

would this be better as a Windows Home Server and start over on the HTPC

please tell me what CPU and MOBO i should use on a mATX system

I am wondering if the CPU is the cause of no audio

last week i had a Pent D930 in there and then i put the Celeron in and did the BIOS upgrade.

problem is that i dont have the D930 any more

You might take a look at some of the other threads here.

The same recomendations keep coming up.

Gbyte 780 based mobo + 4850e dual core CPU.

Has the performance to drive HD content including Blu Ray and no discrete card is needed.

I myself am running the MSI 7411 (aka Media Live Diva) which is a 780 solution with an integrated amplifier and it works awesome for HD playback.

If you get a 780G-based mobo, you can really skimp on the CPU, to the point that the CPU/mobo combo will be cheaper than the cost of just a new nVidia 9x00-based mobo. For most common HD codecs, the chipset will offload almost all the decoding. If you want to watch something that isn't accelerated, you'll want a faster CPU, but that isn't an issue for most people.

Mine runs a 2.2Ghz X2 3600+ s939 (with a 9600GSO)and it plays back h264 720p videos just fine, butter smooth. :)
