1. What will you be doing with this PC?
strictly HTPC/Playback

2. What's your budget?
Looking around $400 for everything

3. Where do you live?
I live within easy driving distance of a Microcenter and a Frys

4. What exact parts do you need for that budget?
My current list is below

5. If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing?
None

6. What specific features do you need in a motherboard?
HDMI - required
ability to play 1080p without stutter - required
1gbps ethernet - required

7. What resolution output do you need?
1080p, single HDMI output to TV

8. Does this system need to fit into a particular space?
Smaller is better, which is why I've chosen mini-ITX

9. How comfortable are you with custom case design/modification and electrical wiring?
Comfortable enough to do basic mods (drilling, wire-tying). I don't want to have to do any metal cutting.

10. How important is the noise/silence of this sytem?
Quiet is preferred, but 100% silence is not needed. Right now I use a noisy laptop.

11. How mobile does this system need to be?
Not at all.

12. Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
Yes, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

13. When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
This week probably.

My current thoughts...
Mobo $87 ASrock Mini-ITX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157238
CPU $135 Intel i3-2100T http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116394
RAM $31 G.Skill 2x2GB 1.35v http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231316
HD $40 WD 320GB Blue http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136770
Case $45 Mini-ITX Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811108196
DVD $19 DVD-RW http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289
Fans $11 2x80mm silent fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-999-199

Also, low power usage on idle is highly desirable.

What do you think?

Thanks!

You can ditch that case and fans and get this case/psu instead (it will all fit just fine :))

It's much smaller, silent, and only $13 more!

It is indeed smaller, but lacks support for an optical drive, and only supports 2.5" drives. 3.5" drives are so much less money for so much more space, and I do want to be able to play DVDs.

sorry, misread your post (totally missed the optical drive in your parts list... and hell, I didn't even know they made 320gb 3.5" drives any more), disregard my previous post.
