it looks fucking hot... but no capacitive touch screen... oh well, no finger smudges then.

3) RAM will be very important on any HTC Touch Flo device. The primary reason is sadly WinMo that has a tendency to rack up ram usage with application insallation and usage. Look for a version with a micro SDHC expansion ability. The diamonds and pros do not have these (i believe...though I could be wrong).
5) The call quality is supposed to be nice, but HTC tends to use the mini USB jack instead of the standard headphone jack (read, expsneive accessories).
The only version theyve shown ONLY has Euro bands, none of the NAmerica frequencies. Is the official US release date known at all yet?
Also, is there going to be an official exclusive carrier?

And the point of having such a big screen device sans HSPA is...? There is none. For 3G at the moment its Euro only, for Edge it will work just fine in the states.

I wonder if this means the Pro isn't coming either. :/
HTC not bringing Touch HD to the States
by Darren Murph, posted Oct 7th 2008 at 12:32PM
This shouldn't be surprising at all to anyone even remotely familiar with HTC's tendencies, but the Touch HD is officially not ever shipping to America (unless you import, obviously). The news was dropped via a Tweet (of all things), but evidently, the outcry over what we figured was common knowledge has caused some windows to be rattled in the penthouse offices. Another official Tweet followed to thank everyone for "expressing their desire for the HD," with the author noting that "US management now knows there's a grassroots demand for high-end HTCs here." Really, HTC? You needed a flood of angry Twitter comments to understand that Americans would give their second born for a phone like the Touch HD?

Update: We've received official word from HTC that they've been really overwhelmed by the "strong" demand for the HD in the States and other markets where no launch has been planned (with that insane display, it seemed like a no-brainer to us!). Sadly, due to the engineering time required to get a North American 3G version in the pipeline, they say they're better off just waiting until the next round of products launches -- hopefully with some extra bands in the radio this time, eh?
Considering we know ATT and sprint are both getting the pro, I dont think so.http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/10/07/htc-not-bringing-touch-hd-to-the-states/

same hereNo Touch HD = Xperia X1 for me
Yes, I was waiting and hoping for a US 3G version... makes muh eyes rain!!

same here
fuck you, HTC
I'm aware of that. Doesn't change my opinion that they're complete dumbasses for not releasing this phone here. The more I see of the X1 though, I think I like it better anyway.i'm pretty sure HTC made the xperia hardware as well...
whats so great about a phone that runs windows mobile? i recently got a touch diamond (sprint) and it sucks. gets super hot (feels like you got a fire in your pocket), and very unresponsive (locks up). I suppose if you're into making your own custom roms/optimizing it would be a nice phone, but out of the box, it sucks. I ended up exchanging for a blackberry curve which is far more stable (although not as "cool" looking). I think android+htc could potentially mean awesome phones, but for now, i dont think i'd buy another windows mobile phone.
