HTC, Android in Serious Trouble

I'd rather go back to the old Term of patent in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia length of 17 years or if that's not possible due to treaties, then at most by law, 20 years and not one second longer.

Notice how hardOCP automatically changed the link into wikipedia in the original post. Or how the youtube links automatically turn into youtube players. That's a patent infringement right there!

Steve! You're going down!

Even if it's a valid patent, isn't there some sort of procedure about companies needing to enforce their patents, coz this function has been around for years. I think every phone i've had, even the non-smartphones, automatically highlights phone numbers and links inside SMS messages. Why wasn't it enforced then?

This is why it's important to read the article if you're actually interested in the topic. The article explains the other cases currently in contention (addressing your question) and the patent itself is about things that non-smartphones are incapable of doing.

It looks like the patent is covering those things in android that are like events, triggers or actions--I can't remember their specific name--if that helps you wrap your head around the difference between that kind of thing and just selecting text boxes or links.

This implies then I could make a similar forum to Hard forum (soft forum anyone) and kyle could sue me. Sigh. Apple, go away.

I vaguely remember that, can't remember what happened in the end, but I remember a big twist to the whole case.

Can only hope Apple's current Patent trip backfires in some manner, this is getting ridiculous, everyone pretty much knows they are trying to block the competition by any means necessary, and their current and imminent offerings (iPhone 5) are falling short of the mark.

Now if they made the OS as flexible and unrestrained as the Android OS, they might see some added interest.
Here's that (old story). Apple would've been so proud. :D

HAHA!

I hate Android/HTC.

See sig.

Three phones later(HTC Incredible, Moto Droid 1, Moto Droid 2), still have yet to have a pleasant experience with Android.
Sounds like a lot of PEBCAK.

I think Apple is going after the device makers because they have weaker patent profiles than Google. Apple may also want to see how they fare against the smaller fish before taking on the big kahuna.
