HT on or off when overclocking i7?

I'm currently running my 920@4400mhz with HT ON (21x210), however, after playing around with some settings, I can get the chip up to 4600mhz when HT is disabled.

The system is primarily for gaming, but given the nominal increase in speed, is it worth disabling HT to achieve an additional 200mhz overclock?

Depends on what you do. If you don't use many or any multithreaded programs, then you might as well leave it off because the extra speed will be of more use to you. However, if you do a lot of multitasking, video encoding, and that sort of thing, HT will be very beneficial.
 
This is my straight forward option.

You bought an i7, you keep HT on always, no exception.

Overclocked or not HT is staying on, if you keep HT off sell your i7 and buy a Q6600.

if your system can run w/ HT on @ 4.4ghz and 24/7 stable, i'd leave it on IMO.
 
I do agree also, the i7 runs faster with HT on than with it off and a 200 mhz bump in clock speed, I have benchmarks to prove it, somewhere. You do take a hit in performance, just keep it on and try to max OC with it on and you will be better results. Although turn it off for max BASE CLOCK overclocks that is when I turn it off.
