Why is it that the HT link shouldn't be clocked over 1000mhz? Why can't we overclock it like we do the Ram, FSB and CPU?
 
well, it usually can go over 1000mhz. my board makes it up to around 1300mhz before crapping out

there's really two basic reasons...
1. no performance gain. AT ALL.

2. it's kinda hard to do stability checks on the top end, as no programs like prime95 or memtest exist for stressing the ht link.
 
Wow, I just started overclocking, and reading this article really helps me understand (step one) of the overclocking guide.
