for some odd reason... my idle core temp are from 45-50C...
this is not normal at all... and i m pretty sure i have mounted my stock HSF properly...
speedfan even showed me the flame sign next to those core temps...
is there any suggestions for HSF in the mini P180?
i was thinking back to S1283 but the problem is... will it fit? and i m kinda lazy when it comes to dismount the whole mobo just to put the mounting rack :p
thought i can save some money but i guess a good HSF is always needed lol
spec is The Small Guy in my sig

edited: pictures for both The Big Guy and The Small Guy will be available this week! this time i will try to take some quality pictures instead of last time where i just do some quick snap to show u the before and after cable management :p

Thanks

Two things. First of all, idle temps are irrelevant since Intel's DTSes are inaccurate for idle readings. Second, use Real Temp with Tjmax set to 100C to monitor your temps. If that reports your temps as being less than 65C, I wouldn't worry about a thing.

I think older steppings have crapped out sensors. I bought another e8400 for the E0 stepping because my C0 was reporting a bunch of bs - enzotech ultra + S1283 were both idling at 50c. After the switch my temp is reported at 30c w/ the S1283 w/ tjmax 100 - much more reasonable.

The DTSes have an accuracy within +-10C below 50C, regardless of the stepping. In other words, below 50C the readings are essentially useless. Your 30C idle temps mean absolutely nothing.

I'd much rather be looking at a 30c idle than one at 50c. At load stock the C0 w/ S1283 would reach 60+, this E0 is less than 50c.

Good job not reading my post. The point is that although the DTS may be reporting 30C, the actual temperature could vary by at least 10C. You may even be running at 45C in reality. Readings below 50C are completely inaccurate, and you should essentially just ignore them. Idle temps are meaningless, and the only thing that really matters is the load temperature.

Good job not reading mine. My load temp on the E0 has not hit 50c one time or another, so now my load temp is meaningless too?
