Over the weekend, I grabbed some parts from Fry's and threw together two computers (~$400/ea) for some animation work that I am doing. I decided to go with the Antec NSK1300 case, as it was on sale. However, I ignored the thought to check the clearance on the processor heatsink/fan. I grabbed a Thermaltake TR2-R1, because the CPU (AMD A64 X2 4400) only included the CPU itself (no heatsink or fan). When I went to install them, the fan doesn't fit under the power supply! I ended up unscrewing it from the heatsink and just propping it up against the side of the heatsink. This is far from optimal for a number of reasons:

  1. The fan is blowing perpendicular to the rows of fins on the heatsink and not parallel.
  2. The fan is just sitting there - it's basically held in place by friction between the case and the heatsink.
  3. I can't put the side cover on the case with the fan where it is.
So, down to my question: does anybody else have one of these cases? And if so, can you recommend a heatsink and fan combo that actually fits under the power supply?
