Dang 7000 crapped out twice, about a year apart (glad I got the extended warranty)
This second time I was told that the lappy would be down graded (MB & VC) when repaired. I told them that it unexceptable.
So...
the nice customer rep offered to send me a brand new DV8000t, with a 2.0 duo core and a 256 Video mem NVidea card.
How does the Duo core compare to the P4 3.4?
also got a DVD writer upgrade.
Did I get a deal ?
If the new lappy is as good or better I wouldn't hesitate recommending HP stuff to anyone!
The customer support (so far) is great
 
Yea I would go with the new one. My experience with hp notebooks has been pretty good. Sounds like they are offering a nice replacement.

It really is 1 cpu with 2 cores on it. Speed wise it should be pretty close but the nice thing is that it generates like a 1/3 or the heat of that p4 that was in your old one.
