HP ZR30w Problem

I bought a ZR30 last Sept. and after installing it and booting my PC into Windows7 i noticed the monitor had a thin, red, vertical line that ran from bezel to bezel about 7 inches from the left side bezel. I was going to call HP about a warranty replacement but the thin red line disappeared after three days and never appearedf again until, once again, it appeared on boot-up yesterday.

I have no idea what is causing this but it is unacceptable. I logged into HP's website and discovered their support is a maze of dead-ends and i am going to have to make a long distance phone call to HP at my expense in order to resolve this issue.

Before i call HP is there anyone here who has dealt with HP support and can offer advice? And is there anyone here who might know the technical reason why this monitor displays this "thin, red, vertical line"?

Thanks,
C.

Was there any sharp bend in your video cable? I know I had some weird lines and artifacts when I changed my monitor height and pinched the cable at a weird angle, went away as soon as I straightened it back out.

Tried a different cable and video card and still had the "thin, vertical, red line". HP overnighted a replacement ZR30w to me on warranty. Still don't have the technical explanation for the "red line" but i have a new ZR30w with a perfect picture. Great customer service from HP too.

Thats good to hear. It may have just been faulty from the start. Its always nice when a company is so quick to fix the problem
