Hey, I'm looking to buy a new monitor soon and I was taking a hard look at both these monitors. I realize they're virtually identical except for the size, but I just want to be sure. So what type of panel do these use? TN? IPS? MVA?

I definitely don't want to go with a TN, and IPS seems too slow and expensive for gaming, so I figured I'd go with MVA.

Gargh. How bad are TNs? Everyone on here seems to hate them with a passion, but I've read countless people raving for these HP monitors. I think I'm just going to go for it.

unless you are anal I'm sure it'll be great. some people just like to be able to use a variety of viewing angles and stuff but I personally sit right in front of my lcd at all times so I could care less.

Except with TN panels, even sitting directly in front of them won't work. That's what kills me about them :(

HP is very good for not a demanding users who need good/real colors and good viewing angles.
i mean about too bad case it's the only solution that came with Glossy screen which is very nice and give the image a WOW effect.
i hope if HP come with much better panels with glossy screen.

I don't know if I should be happy that TN technology is improving or sad that so many people find them acceptable thereby making them the norm in the marketplace. *hugs NEC 20WMGX2 and prays that she lasts until new tech comes out*:(

The 20wmgx2 coating is annoying as hell, the w2207 coating is glossy and can be annoying but the 20wmgx2 is basically the same thing as an actual mirror and becomes super annoying
