Does anybody know where I can find a power supply for a 3 year old HP (HP no longer carries them)? The depth of the power supply has to be less than 4 inches. A standard ATX power supply would fit if it was not for the depth issue. Does this type of power supply have a special name? Any help would be greatly appreciated

micro atx?

You Could try that new seventeam external psu that jonnyguru just reviewed.

Or be ghetto and use duct tape

Less than 4"? Are sure it's a standard ATX and not a microATX/SFX power supply?

An ATX power supply would fit if it was not for the depth issue. If I take out the optical drives an ATX power supply will fit.

Be sure to double check the ATX connector. Plenty of HP machines don't use a standard connector.

I fix a lot of HP computers and all the connections are standard connections. The only difference is the short depth of the power supply. I just need one with more than 300W of power because I have a customer who just upgraded their video card

The only one that you're going to find that fits those requirements is a pull from an Aspire X-Qpack.

My friend's old HP (back in the original Athlon days) had it's Delta PSU across from the CPU, not overhead. It ran quite hot.

That is exactly what I am looking for. But, since it is for a customer I don't want to purchase a case just to pull the power supply out. Does anybody know where I can get a similar or the same power supply.
