hi, I reformatted and reinstalled xp on a friends computer but now he cant connect to the internet. modem shows data is going through but cant view webpages. Im pretty sure that I just need to install the proper drivers for his NIC but i have no idea what card he has. Its an HP Pavilion computer that he bought at bestbuy (i think) 6-8 months ago.
any ideas?

Are you sure it's NIC? You can remove it, there are usually markings on the card that will help you determine what brand it is ...

hp supoosed to give you some cds or a recovery cd that has the drivers on it if the nic is on the mobo. if they didnt, then there is supossed to be a parttion on your harddrive that has the recovery software thing.
