Is this a pretty good LCD? Seeing some decent prices on it right now, around 800 bucks, and it allegedly has something like a 4000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Anybody think it would work well with a 7900GT via DVI?

I'm using the LC2600N with my 6800 ultra, it was a bit of a pain to get it mapped pixel->pixel but this thread should be all you need to get it set up. I think the 4000:1 thing is some kind of gimmick, maybe having to do with the fact that you can adjust the backlight (independantly from the brightness and contrast).

If you're looking for an LCD TV around this size I think its the best deal right now. The TV is actually made by Sharp and re-branded by HP. It has every possible input, HDMI and DVI HDCP compatible, even firewire (i.link). Also it has built in ATSC tuner for over the air Hi-Def, NTSC tuner for regular cable and a Cable Card slot which allows you to get digital cable without the box (the only downside is no programming guide or pay-per-view capability). The only thing its really missing is PiP. I got tired to switching from TV-PC at commercial breaks so I bought a cheap 15inch LCD monitor to sit beside it.

It works better than many LCD TVs as a monitor (its DVI-I port will accept digital or analog from a pc) but the pixel pitch (approx 0.428mm) was just TOO big for me to get used to coming from a dell 2005fpw (0.258mm PP). Another reason I don't recommend it as a monitor, the stand is bulky (and fugly), and the border on all sides of the screen is about 3 inches wide and shiny semi-reflective black.

For the same price, you could have a Dell 2405/2407 (when on sale). I debated between the two for a while, but I bought it mostly as a TV so all the inputs and correct 16:9 ratio for movies swung me towards the HP. If you just want a big monitor, the Dell is a better option for its much higher resolution and smaller/adjustable stand.
