HP P1230 Questions.

Hello everyone,

According to spacediver in this post, as well as research on my own, it seems like my HP P1230 is a rebranded Diamond Pro 2070SB (is this true?).

I was provided this extensive manual:

If it is indeed the technically correct manual (is it?), are there any jewels to note that I could tweak on the CRT to better suit the game Quake Live?

try entering factory mode, as instructed in the manual, and see what happens.

as for quakelive, I recommend using a resolution that allows as high a refresh rate as possible.

According to the user manual, you should be able to get 160 hz @ 1024x768.

Make sure you turn off vsync, and set com_maxfps to 250 in quakelive. You'll be golden then.

Ok, but I don't know anything technical about monitors so would I be alright if I did things step-by-step or is it too risky?

If your computer can't run 250 fps in quake live @ 1024x768 then you need to move past the dinosaur age :)

com_maxfps 250 and cg_drawfps 1 to confirm. turn off all the post processing stuff, and try r_picmip 5 or something.

Both. In game command is r_swapinterval 0

I followed the directions and I was able to enter factory mode. The only difference was that the manual had:

H2-OW-01

FACT DATA 0


While my HP P1230 had:

H2-HP-02

FACT DATA 0


So I guess this confirms it is the same monitor like you said.

Give it a shot and see what happens.

There are some other things I am working on, but will do once I am ready.

I guess. I'd rather be sure of what I am changing though. I'll look into it. Thanks. :)

I am running at 120 Hz now at 1024 x 768. If 160 Hz is supported at that resolution, why am I not seeing it listed?
