after booting the pc, the card continuously beeps. there is no drive connected to the card. during the boot process, i pressed ctrl-m to bring up the utility but it just goes on and the beep sounds after that.

i'm not really familiar with scsi and my only experience using it was thru an adaptec 29160n which booted fine even without the drive.

since this was a used card, i was thinking maybe the card is looking the previous drives connected to it?

I searched here and in google without much luck. i have downloaded the hardware guide from lsi's website still can't find any solution.

tnx

edit: i've found the audible warnings section. I still don't understand it though.

Link to manual? I can't narrow down what an e1600 is enough to get a manual...

Most likely ...

You should be able to enter the Configuration Utility, by pressing <CTRL><M> during boot, and clear the current configuration settings. If not, check your BIOS settings and make sure that Int19 is enabled ... check the jumpers on the controller to make sure that its BIOS is enabled ... or, grab the DOS based configuration utility off LSIs website.
