Having some trouble with my HP Microserver, running windows 2008 I get 100Mbp/s over the wire (copying a file) from my desktop. 2GB RAM installed and a single 2TB disk (not one of the newer 4k types). Running the same machine with Linux or FreeNAS I'm only getting 35-40Mbps (Megabytes not bits).
Anyone else observed similar or have any suggestions? I've tried all sorts. The hacked bios with AHCI support. Multiple O/S's Samba versions and tweaks I can see the same on NFS performance wise. Local disk to disk seems fine. I simply cannot get anywhere near the speed I get off windows.
