HP MicroServer + Advance Format Drives

[Arceon]

I know its a fairly new product so not a lot of people will have one yet, but if anyone has a MicroServer and some AFD's could they post here if they are working?

Going to pick up a MicroServer next month and whack Ubuntu server on it, and a pair of WD20EARS in RAID1. Potentially a lot of things could go wrong in that setup with these damned drives so would appreciate the heads up.

Hi,

Using the new hard drives with Advanced Format (bigger then 512 Bytes sector size) should not be a problem:

How to install a Advanced Format Drive on any Operating System

The simple story for you is:
- Use Windows Server 2008 R2 with as patch from MS
- Use Linux with kernel version >= 2.6.34 (e.g. Ubuntu 10.10)

With kind regards
Joe
