I have a maximum of 500 dollars to spend on a monitor and the HP LP2475w seems to be the best one for what I do (mainly watch movies/tv with gaming on the side). It's listed on Amazon as selling for $555. What's the cheapest this monitor has been sold for and are there any other places I can check price changes and buy it from?

That's a great price for a great online store. The return policy is second to none at amazon. Ship times stink though.

Bump. Anyone know where else I can check for the pricing of this monitor and the cheapest its sold for? I want to wait a month or so to see if any deals pop up.

Try a shopping agent site like mysimon.com or computershopper.com, they usually have a pretty good list of competitive prices.

Careful about the wide gamut issues if you're just planning to watch movies.

Yea I read about the wide gamut, and I for sure can't afford calibration hardware so I will try to optimize my best by eye. But there aren't any better monitors in this price range right? All the others I've looked at have bigger flaws.

You can get free 2-day shipping through amazon if you sign up for a free 'Prime' trial (then cancel it after a week.) $555 is not a bad price, and if there is anything wrong with it, amazon will take care of you. To me, that's worth it.

i got mine off Ebay and it was a refurb :) check out there it has a 1year waranty

I just sold my 2 month old 2475w for $420. If you are okay with buying used and you trust the seller, I suggest you go that route.
