Did i do any of the steps incorrectly? The best i could do was get contrast to 585 :/

Could it be that i should have set contrast to 100 before calibrating ???

The reason why you got not that good contrast ratio is because you had to drop Green level so low and had to compensate by increasing brightness. Try again, let you monitor warm up for hour before calibrating and move in carefull steps. I could get close to 700 on my old LP2475w.

If you are still not lucky, then I guess your particular monitors native whitepoint (they can vary a lot depending on batch) is so far from D65 that contrast is going to suffer no matter what. So instead of calibrating to D65, calibrate using your monitors native whitepoint (RGB sliders max) in Basiccolors settings. This way you can see what black depth and contrast ratio your monitor is capable of. Though image will probaply be too warm/cold, but you might get used to it.
