Guys, I need your help. I don't seem to be able to get my HP LP2065s DVI working after connecting to an old computer with the supplied analogue/DVI cable. When I have finished on the old computer I connected my new computer to the monitor with the DVI/DVI cable as per usual but now I can't get either DVI channel to become active.

Is there a fix for this?

I have tried turning off the monitor, disconnecting the power and holding down the on button for 10 seconds to reset the settings as this has worked on other HP LP2065s at work but it's not working for mine at home?

Any ideas?

i just bought 2 a couple of days ago

1 worked the other is dead

when you turn on the monitor can you see the message no signal connected?
something like that

unplug the dvi cable first though. if you can not see the white box on the screen they id say the screen is dead

that is how i worked out mine was dead
waiting for hp to get back to me on monday however to replace

Well, I know my screen isn't dead because I can reconnect to the old computer and works every time, through the DVI/analogue cable, it's just not recognising my new computer with its exclusively DVI graphics card anymore.

I can see the message: DVI 1 not active, DVI 2 not active, even when it's all connected up as before when it was working.

I could try loading the drivers and HP LCD utility programs I guess, found here:

Will have to grab an old CRT from work though.

This is a bit silly.

Well i doubt a driver will fix it. Isnt dvi just like a midi cable

It is just a signal and nothing more, no special software/drivers req'd to run it

what graphics card are you using? sure none of the pins are bent?

maybe try the cable around both ways or try another cable if you have one

All the hardware is fine.

At work we have the same monitors and we have a similar problem with them. Sometimes they will not recognise that the DVI is connected and will fall into sleep mode. The fix is to turn off the power saver option through windows, and turn off the monitor and disconnect the power, then hold down the ON button for 10 seonds to reset the the monitor defaults, but this is not working this time for me.

sounds like a pickle :p

can you access the lcd's menu at all?

i know there is a sleeper option in there
maybe try disabling that if you can

sorry don't know what else you can do

I went to work and got a HP 2035 and brought it home. It did not immediately register that it was connected displaying the "check the cable" message after boot, but then I turned the monitor off by hitting the button on the face of the monitor, then turning it back on and it worked.

Now that I had some picture I loaded the HP2065 driver sept 2006.

Then I tried switching the same cable that worked for the HP 2035 over to the HP 2065 but still it would not work. Then I tried connecting both monitors up at the same time and both worked. It's as if I needed the HP 2035 to jump start the HP 2065.

I'm still not wiser to what the cause was? Perhaps something to do with my graphics card, an XFX 7900GT?

Whenever I start up my system while my LCD is off, it won't active the DVI output on the videocard. Maybe it has something to do with the CRT that always hung on the 2nd output using DVI-A > D-Sub connector.

Have to test with LCD only :p
