Do you know if this is only online? Can I go into the store and get the 50 bucks off, or will they not price match against their webiste?

Thanks.

This is an awesome deal. I have this printer and it rocks! Very small and fast.

it is a pretty good monochrome laser. i liked it for how fast it starts and prints 8 seconds for first page out. i noticed that it had water drops on the paper for some reason in the summer when printing but other than that it was fast and it had manual duplex that works like a charm and it did good with envelopes also...

i got mine for $5 tho and as a $5 printer it was pretty good. ;)

the math:

bought at OM where i work
our price 199.99
pricematched to 149.99 at staples with 115% price guarentee = 142.99 + a spindle of dvds to get over 150
a 30 off 150 coupon
employee discount
100 hpinfolab rebate
total $5

i just upgraded a few weeks ago...

sold the 1012 for 100
bought a hp 3500 color for 549
$50 off 250 coupon
$400 hp infolab rebate
549-50-100-400=0 ;)

almost went to staples to pricematch us since their guarentee is 110% so i was hoping to get it for -50 but they will not honor our $50 off 250 coupon and i couldn't find a staples 50 off 250 in time

So you got $50 off and then an additional $15?

Yep. $50 because it is on sale...and $15 is from the coupon :)

Ink Cartridges will run you about $70 each, though it "Yields up to 2,000 pages", that's 3.5 cents per page (plus the cost of paper, of course .. hehe).

when i had the 1012 i got 2400 pages out but i used the economode for most printing. you can buy the cartidges for 48.99 if you search hard enough.

It's not an ink cartridge. Laser printers use toner, not ink. And that's a pretty average price for HP toner cartridges.

I sold this printer when I worked at Staples. Definitely a nice compact machine. It's known for its superfast warmup time. I might pick one up myself...

Yeah, toner is ink, thanks for the correction.

One that tones, as:
1. A chemical bath used to change the color of a photographic print or to preserve black-and-white prints or movie film.
2. A powdery ink used dry or suspended in a liquid to produce a photocopy.
3. A lotion used to refresh the skin.

Not a bad deal. Just be fully aware of what you are buying. As long as you only hook this printer up to a single PC via USB, and only print 20-40 pages/day you will do just fine with this chassis. It networks poorly and is light duty only.

Nice deal with a minimum of exposure.

Fucking A man, when I worked at OfficeMax, we only got a discount 1 day a year. They kept the store open late on a Sunday for employees only. When we walked in they handed us a brown paper grocery bag. Anything we could fit in the bag was 10% off. Unfortunately, no electronics were able to fit in it (this was 6 years ago...even PDAs had big boxes). Ghetto OM.

Don't know where that's from, but it's wrong. They're using "ink" as a general term:

1 : a colored usually liquid material for writing and printing
2 : the black protective secretion of a cephalopod

Ink implies a liquid, whereas toner is actually plastic beads. That's why the fuser is so hot, because the beads are held in place only with an electrostatic charge until the fuser melts them in place. In the early days of inkjets, they weren't allowed to be used in the courts for legal documents, because they aren't as permanent. A couple drops of water or a highlighter and it's smear city. Not so with toner.

This is why inkjet printers have better photo quality, because the ink bleads, giving smoother blends as opposed to the precise dots of toner.

If you ever get toner on your hands (or anywhere else- I don't want to know), NEVER use hot water - always use cold water. Hot water will open your pores and possibly melt the plastic beads and you'll never get it out. Cold water closes your pores, making it easier to wash off. This also goes for Fiberglass for the same basic reason.

Oh, and NOBODY calls what you put in a laser printer an ink cartridge besides you. :D
