HP G56 hibernation issues

This was a dead laptop that I got from my neighbor for partial trade for a working one, and I've replaced the motherboard to bring it back to life again. But the old motherboard had this same problem before it died.

When the laptop goes into hibernation while it's plugged in with the battery in place and then unplugged (like I'm going to take it somewhere else), if I plug it back it back in before turning it on, it will not power up. The charge status light on the side won't even come on. I have to unplug it again, remove the battery, and plug it back in before it'll power up again. Then I can put the battery back in and it'll work just fine.


If I turn it on before I plug it back in, or just don't unplug it, it'll power on just fine. Also, if the battery is left out of it, it works ok.

Any ideas on what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Check the BIOS. Do a reset, see if there is an upgrade. Look at the settings.

Other than that its going to be a hardware issue.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I've upgraded the BIOS to the latest, and also reset to defaults (on both old and new versions) with no luck. Oh well, the future owner already knows about the issue and is okay with just leaving the battery out until he needs it. Thanks.
