Haven's posted in a while but need to because I'm stuck, so thanks in advance. I have a HP p6210y, main hard drive failed and I had to replace. Ordered recovery CD's from HP because I didn't have any made. Getting error message "Reboot and Select proper boot device. Insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". Basically I just want to reinstall Windows 7 on this new drive. Is this possible?? When I run the HP diagnostics it gives me an Error Code : BIOHD-2. For some reason I've never come across doing this, so any and all assistance is helpful Thanks!

Did you make sure to go into the BIOs and set the "DVD drive" as the first boost device?
Did you hook up the hard drive correctly?
Try a different SATA port?
Try a different SATA cable?
Is the hard drive actually seen in the BIOs?

Switched the SATA cable from the DVD drive and same error. I don't have another hard drive. One question I have, should this be possible? The people from Samsung said I can;t use the recovery software with the new drive. I went from a WD drive to a Samsung drive.

It might be possible if HP was a dick and decided to tie the recovery media to whether or not you have a certain drive. But I highly doubt that's the issue.
Test the new drive in another PC just to make sure it's not DOA as well. Also, reset CMOS on the HP.

More than likely a bad mobo. Leave it on for ~3min then touch the southbridge heatsink. If it's extremely hot, there is your problem. The Pegatron boards in those units tend to go bad and drop SATA channels when the chipset overheats. No real way to fix it besides replacing the board.. Also, check the BIOS. If no SATA drives are detected, bad mobo.
