I have a pile of 2.5" 500GB SATA drives that I'm thinking about putting into a D2700. I have a couple questions about them and I'm hoping someone with some experience can help.

  1. It looks like a lot of the ones listed are without trays or without a complete set of trays. I have some HP trays like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-SFF-2-5-...DL380-370-DL360-G5-SATA-SAS-HDD-/201423881867
    Will they work?
  2. I will be using this with ZFS. Is this just a straight expander chassis?
  3. How loud are these? It doesn't have to be silent, it'll be in the rack in my basement with my current 4U Supermicro, but I'd prefer it not be jet engine. Are the fans controllable?

Not directly related, what is the m1015 equivalent for external connections?
