I will use the x800GTO until the 8600's come out

is this a pretty good setup will i get better FPS with this or should i reconsider?

Vanguard chugs even on fairly new comps. I think it's more of a matter of them optimizing the game more...

i agree, vanguard just runs horribly for certian video cards.
i have an 8800gts, 4200+ and 2 gigs of ram, and i get between 4-45fps on highest settings.
people running the 7900s never seem to have a problem tho.

you would probably see more of an increase with a new video card TBH; you probably will only get a minimal improvement at best with that new hardware you suggested

Your best bet for the least amount of money would be to upgrade the video card.
the other hardware you are looking at would not give you much more than your 939 system is giving you now. The games your playing are not optimized for dual core yet.. You can o/clock your 3200 to at least 2.5 and with a high line video card youll be set for a while..Even if some new games come out for dual core you can always go 939 dual core in the future by buying a used 939 dual cpu...Your 939 system will be fine for quite some time and as parts sold as new dry up alot of people will be selling used 939 parts..I have a simiular systems as you have and i know ill be running it for at least another year and the only upgrade im thinking about is dual core used in the next 6 months or so. Im not a gamer but if you go for the 8800 or the new ati card coming out you will have a great gaming computer..The newer stuff keeps coming out but in reality its not all that much faster than what we are running right now...Real world difference is hardly noticeable..............

But the thing is, can i still overclock my Cpu if i bought it from Circuit city(Emachines T6212)
i always though they lock it or am i mistaken

i doubt the board has any oc'ing options if you bought an emachine... check out the bios, see whats available.

what you listed above is a great base for a new system, if thats your goal. however, if you simply want better gaming performance for a game thats not even optimized for dual core, then go with a new vidcard instead. wait for the card you want, and the price you can afford.

Video card will work for you the best imho. I am running V:SoH on the setup on the bottom of my post. I get about an average of 30fps with all settings cranked(other than Environmental Shaders, above 77% and my Far Clipping Plane drops like a rock). Oddly enough, I get no better fps if I start dropping my settings. I can get a more fluid fps(doesn't fluctuate so much), but I hardly hit over about 40fps outdoors. If you have a PCI-e slot I would suggest the new GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB cards($300 or so). Or maybe an ATI x1950 series card($200 or so for a nice one). Both cards will be sweet with VG.

Or, if you prefer, grab another 939 CPU. I know that the Athlon 64 3200+ you have runs EQ2 nicely, so it should run VG ok also(I would think). But it is another option.
