there are many things you can change...

like the GPU

does he want a GPU that powerful when DX10 is coming?

even though there 1ST gen they should play DX9 games really well so...

The 150gb raptors are like $20 more. The ones w/o the window. They are a whole generation ahead.

Actually... the 74gb one that he has listed is the SAME as the 150, just lower capacity. Though... they are crap drives. After doing some in depth tests of the hardware on the latest raptors I can tell you that I wouldn't buy one myself. The newer controllers that they are using are trash.

I'd stick to a cheaper vidcard, like the 7600GT or 7900GT for now, until DX10 comes out.

Also, for the HDD, you don't really need a raptor to get good performance... the Seagate 7200.10 320GB 7200rpm sata3gb 16mb cache is quite fast. I have all 3 drives mentioned, the WD1500ADFD, WD2500KS, and the ST3320620AS. While the raptor is certainly the fastest, the 7200.10 kicks the KS' ass. I'd suggest the seagate over the wdXX00ks.

Also, I'd suggest an NEC ND-3550A or BenQ DW1650 over the LG.

I really havent kept up with logitech's cordless stuff... have they improved it enough to beat corded setups?

Unless he plans to OC the E6600 to the max and pump the RAM to DDR2-1100 speeds, then he really doesnt need DDR2-800, since DDR2-667 can reach DDR2-800 speeds quite easily... check out this article for more ram suggestions:

If he does want to OC to the max, I'd go for the better ASUS board, P5WDH Deluxe.

Supposadly the DX10 cards have been delayed another three to six months, so powerful DX9 cards are back "in"....

22" monitors are the same resolution as 20" monitors, so a dual card solution might be a bit overkill unless you have to have every single setting at max. You should still be able to keep a majority of the eyecandy with a $300 card. So I'd say either keep the 7950GX2 and get a 24" display, or step it down to a 7900GT/1900XT.

And don't forget that DX10 games will take awhile to become popular. It was a long time before SM 3.0 and Pixel Shader 2.0 became commonplace in games.
