Also, woud this work? A 250 GB HD and a 80 GB HD? I wanted to take the old harddrive in my old computer and put it onto my new computer. is there a way to use one as like an external hd or like use one as back up or run them in like either raid 0 or raid 1...?
 
To run Raid 0 or 1, you need the 2 of the same harddrives. You can have multiple HD's in the same computer, no problems, or you can buy a external exclosure and throw the HD in there.

yeah you can put both HDs in the case. You just cant run them in a RAID configuration. Just install them both and backup your data manually on the 80GB drive. Install the OS, and Apps on the 250GB drive and keep a copy of your personal data on that dive as well. That way you always got a backup of your data.
 
You can run a RAID 1 configuration with two different hard drives but you will only be able to have as many GB as the smallest drive.
