I spent half an hour rewiring my system. What do you guys think? Any tips or oppinions on what I can do to improve it?

Turn your hard drives around... and try to put some of the wires around the back of the mobo tray.

What do you mean by turn harddrive around? Flip it so the IDE plug is on right instead of left? I got long IDE cables on there... everything else is concealed behind the mobo tray becides the HD/Optical drive cables and my power to the VC.

reverse mount your hard drives like User Name's rig...

maybe think about using smaller wire loom. i used 1 size down from what you used and fit quite nicely.

You need to wrap all those PSU wires and run them behind the case if you can.

CD Rom wires are really hard to hide, IMP.

 wow, that is clean

wow thats a clean case... did you flip around ur HD's so the cables plug in right against the front of the case itself? Hard to tell. Could someone explain what wire loom is and how to use a smaller size of it too?

exactly, if you case has the room for this mod its quite effective in moving the wires out of sight. there are a few more pictures here but they were taken before he reverse mounted this hard drives. note the wiring job behind the motherboard tray.

just to the same thing as you did with the loom you used just use smaller loom. :p 1/8" i think the size is. smallest loom ive seen sold in stores (frys, auto part stores, etc.).

I had those same rounded cables. Not anymore though because after about a year passed they turned yellow.

Looking good. I gotta route my cables all nice and pretty when my new case comes.

the black split tubing you used to organize your wires. :p

Aight thanks, I'm thinking about doing heatshrink tubing if i'm daring enough to take off the molex pins. Ever try that and how hard is it to do?

its not hard to do but it takes time and patients. id suggest sleeving the wires and using heatshrink tubing on the ends instead of heat shrinking all the wires whole. itll give you a better look over all (sleeving).

spend an hour undoing everything then run the cables behind the motherboard tray only pulling them out where you intend to use them. Stick to one color silver or black not both unless your doing a raiders mod. clean up that rats nest of a power supply

Thanks for the tip on the sleeving.

All the cables are run behind the motherboard tray. I just didnt do this on the ide and floppy cables. Everything else is behind mobo tray and then comes out to be plugged in where necessary. How do you suggest i fix that "rats nest" any more then it is now? Everything is pulled tight and runs right behind mobo. Your oppionions are appreciated :)

Dare to heat shrink.

A buddy of mine loves the split loom, I can't stand it ( I think it looks cheap and gheto)

I have never done anything as far as moding and I did my PSU (got a pin extractor from RatShack) and popped all my molex's off and went to work.

I did leave the ATX supply though ( don't wanna atempt until I get a spare PSU).
Looks great and a lot more flexable than split loom.

Thanks for the tutorial. Really well written. I'm not sure about opening the PSU just to sleeve it and taking off the ATX Connector (Seems Risky  ) Would you reccomend I put my HD at the bottom of the case like UserNames's to get a better look? Wow I wish mine can be like this one day :D

I'm Getting an AeroGate II Fan Controller/Temp Monitor for my rig. How would you go about attaching the temp sensors for the cpu and the gpu? I want to get accurate readings since I'm going to be O-Clocking them.

if ur gonna keep that tubing stuff, try a smaller diameter one
ur current one is just HUGE!!

Yea I know it is lol. I just wanted something and my friend had that lying around in his garage. Anyone know where I can get cheap sleeving to use instead of what I got now?

Lots of online retailers carry the vantec sleeving kits, they come in like 5 diff colours. Sorry I can't tell you which ones, I have seen them around tho, I just buy mine at a local computer store.

Here's how I cleaned my lanboy up.

Thanks :D
opening a psu is nothing, you shouldnt be afraid of it
you cant get hurt unless the caps have power still in them, and you touch them... which you wouldnt be doing hehe

and you dont have to take the atx connector off if you dont want to, you could bend the wires so that the atx goes sideways and slide sleeving up it (i've done this before as well hehe) and instead of heatshrink, use zipties and electrical tape to seal the ends off

or you could just use spiral wrap/split loom hehe

and definately do what username did
his case looks amazingly clean!!!

i have this same unit. you can just tape the temp probe right next to the cpu core. make sure the wire doesnt affect how the heatsink sits on the cpu.

So like right next to the whole thing? or sandwhich it in between the heatsink and the cpu rite next to the core

Yea that sleeving guide is so well done, props to the creator

Well thank you :D
im glad to hear people like it
took me a while to write, and i had to sleeve my dad's power supply because all of mine are already sleeved haha

sandwhich it in between the heatsink and the cpu rite next to the core. its very important that its not restricting any contact with the heatsink and cpu core. the closer to the core the more accurate the temp reading.

Very nice sleeving guide. I was curious, though, if you have a guide or something on removing those unneeded connecters (sorry, I don't know their specific names anymore) such as that stupid 2x2, 4 pin connector and such. I'd add that to the guide if you have it. :D

all you do to get rid of those, is snip them off inside the psu and use electrical tape on each seperate wire

that way you dont hurt anything, and you dont touch two wires together that shouldnt be together

crap, i should have added that to the guide, i wonder if it can still be done

Would you do the same thing if you had a cable with a molex connector, the another one stemmed of to make a daisy chain... Could you just cut off the one that stemms off if you dont use it and electrial tape the ends still making it look clean you think?

Username I have a question on your rig... Right next to the PSU is a hole I see where all the cables go out... Is that hole a long oval covered by the psu or did u take all the molex heads off before squeezing the cables through that tiny hole. Just trying to think of how everything got through there, looks like a tight squeeze :)

About the temp sensor: Wouldn't it be pissible to stick it to the underside ot the CPU? Like push it under the socket, put some heat-conductove glue on the underside ot the CPU, stick it on, and then install the CPU normally?
