How would this water cooling setup work?

How well would this water cooling setup work? I have no specific parts as of now. It will be for an i7(4ghz??) and maybe in the future two 5970s

I would do it in reverse, because the coldest water will hit the cpu first. Otherwise you have one single rad getting rid of heat for two 5970's, which I don't think will do the best of job. Then going to the cpu.

Yea that would work.

You may also consider, Pump > Triple Rad > CPU Block > Single Rad > Video Cards > Res > Pump. Although the water will be slightly warmer when entering the pump.

Ultimately it just comes down making sure the res is before the pump. So if one way fit's better in the case then do it that way ;)
 
I tried both ways res>pump>rad>block and res>pump>block>rad....same difference, some peole say it's best to go from the pump to the rad because the pump generates heat, maybe it's just my setup IDK, I would suggest unless your case has easy access where you note the fill port above the res. you could put a T on your return line from your closest card at the bottom of the case with a length of 10-12" of piping or cap it with a quick disconnect.....aka drain hose....it made bleeding. draining, filling the system a breeze and I was able to extend away from the case and safe gaurde my system from any water contact
 
First, as long as the res is before the pump, loop order does not matter. You are not going to see a difference of more than a .5c regardless of order. It's been debated and tested so many times before that I still do not get why the question ever gets asked. The water is moving too fast through the system to actually be a different temp in one part of the loop versus the other part, it's what they call equalibrium.

If you are planning on cooling an I7 and two HD5970's, it would be best to separate the loops and that's is going to be a lot of heat to get rid of for just a triple rad and a single rad. Will it cool it? Sure. but if you are trying to get the most out of the system separate the cpu by itself and use a thick dual rad such as the XSPC RX series or Feser rads or a triple rad like the Swiftech or XSPC RS series rads. Then do a triple XSPC RX or Feser rad on the two HD5970's with the NB/SB block. Keep in mind that the NB doesn't get as hot as the older x48/x38 chipsets did since they removed the memory controller from it, so it isn't as crucial to water cool it. The mosfets will get hot if they do not have good airflow, so keep that in mind since you are removing the normal airflow coming from the cpu cooler.

If I put Make two separate loops, then I will have to have two separate reservoirs and pumps...
