How well does the Marvel 88SE9128 perform?

I'm looking towards buying a motherboard that supports SATA 6gbps with the intention of eventually running two SATA 6gbps SSDs in RAID0 when they become available. So far as I know, all SATA 6gbps motherboards on the market use either the marvel 88SE9128 or 88SE9123 chip to provide SATA 6gbps connectivity- the latter of which does not have RAID support.

I've heard that hardware raid is generally much faster than ICH10R, and older intel southbridges are even slower. This leads me to wonder whether or not a small little chip like the Marvel 88SE9128 could handle even two regular SATA 3gbps drives, let alone faster future products. Furthermore, it seems the controller only connects with a single PCI-E 2.0 lane - which is only 4gbps :O

Does anyone know of any benchmarks of this controller's performance? I can't seem to find any in the reviews of the new motherboards.
