Right now I use artic silver 5 on my cpu and whatever came with my Zalman vc700 for the x1800xt. If I clean them and go over with artic silver ceramique will it make a noticable difference?
With that said I think Ceramique is good stuff. It would be my choice over the Silver paste.
In general ASC will perform in line with AS5. The application method & condition of the two
mating surfaces has the biggest effect on temps.
This is what I have been able to ascertain from personal experiences & reading many
threads in the overclocking forums.
- ASC is easier to clean than AS5
- ASC is better for sub-zero apps since it won't harden like AS5 would
- ASC is generally cheaper than AS5
- ASC is not electrically conductive or capacitive
By the way ... AS5 is not conductive but slightly capacitive.
