How to unplug tubes without spilling?

Hrmm, I haven't thought about this when I built my WC set up, but how in the world would I be able to unplug all the tubes without the liquid spilling all over my motherboard?

The radiator is sitting on the back of my case and it's tubes go through a slot in the case that connect to the CPU block. I can't think of a way to drain them safely unless I saw my case off so that I can move the block away from the components.

If I unplug them from the rad, the water from inside the rad would burst out and into the case (aka motherboard) and the same is true for the CPU block.

And I can't detach the block and pull it outside of the case, I don't think I made the tubes long enough for that.

I could take the motherboard out and worst come to worst it would spill on the case, but that's gonna take a lot of work to take it all out without accidentally nicking the soft tube on a sharp edge, I don't want to risk that.

You have a res or t line at the top of your case? Flip the chasis over and drain it, since the res/t-line would be the lowest point now.

Or, if you have a feser/thermochill, use the hole at the end of the rad.

Other methods include detaching your rad/waterblock using slack tubing to pull them out of the case and draining them that way. Alternately tip your case on its side so that the component being disconected is below your mobo.

Neither, it's a rad/res combo that sits on the back of the case, here is a pic:

I could probably move the block out of the case but I'm still afraid it will squirt some liquid on the components. Does it simply leak out or does it come out with force when you unplug the tubes?

Flip the case upside down and drain from the fillport built into the radiator. You'll probably have to tilt things around a bit to get most of it. Add a drain valve while it is empty..

Case is way too heavy for that

Too heavy? You need to exercise more.

No.. I can lift it, but there's no way I can freakin flip it upside down and hold it that way until it's drained over a tiny bucket. Even my dad who's a construction worker probably wouldn't be able to do that

remove the screws holding the rad to the case, tilt so rad nipples are down and below the case or cover case with a towel, remove hose.

that made me LOL :)
:D
Take two chairs put them back to back then put the computer on top of the two seats. After that open the fillport with a bucket underneath to drain.
Perfect example of innovation.

Geez, I can hold my stacker upside down for a while, that puny antec 300 shouldn't weight much at all

Man, you guys stated what I was thinking. I just wasn't going to jump on it. I just lifted my loaded Stacker and my loaded Masstige at the same time. Is that a record? :p

I think so - I can see it now - a new event on the World's Strongest Man competition. Who can hold the computer case full of water long enough to drain the most liquid???

ok - so the chair idea was good. I was thinking flip it over and set the case on a table with the bucket below.

You could also get a gasoline siphon and pump the hell out of it. Or leave the pump on after you remove that drain port and see how much head you get out of that radiator.
