Greetings,

We have a Windows Server 2000 machine that I am trying to view its \\servername\ shares. I get prompted to authenticate (using domain credentials). How do I open it up so anyone could get a list of shares? There is a particular shared folder I have ready to be accessed by anyone, but I can't link to it because domain credentials are required just to even list shares.

set the share permissions to "Everyone", make sure if you don't want them to have write/delete options that you check "Deny" on the change option, and leave Full Control unchecked on both.

They are, on the share itself...

but the trouble is, if I browse to \\servername\ it asks me to login. I can't access \\servername\sharedfolder123 because it gives me an Access denied due to wrong username/password sort of message.
