i wanted to know what is your method for testing hardware for compatibilty problems?
with pci debug card, software, etc?
such situations is when a user comes up to you and says this item BLA BLA BLA for the past 3 months but you only have several hours to find this fault. assuming its definately not software o/s related ok.
eg. one recent compatibilty problem i found was celeron 2.6ghz, with exilir 512mb ddr ram with xxx mobo kept on crashing in xp pro. when i ran memtest with xxx mobo it kept on coming up with errors. so i testd that memory in yyy mobo with memetest again and no problems what so ever came up.
so i then trested a brand new stick of exilir again in xxx mobo and still it came up with errors so i tohught hold on, it cannot be two consecutive same branded faulty memory modules. so i put samsung branded memory into xxx mobo and it was perfect! passed all tests. so i gave customer higher branded generic memory without extra costs and now that customer is hippy happy. haha.
